Favoring the rich color of gold, Verdura manipulated its form to create the illusion of a wide range of materials and textures, often evoking the likeness of rope, ribbon and fabric. First created in 1947, the Stirrup bracelet uses double-wire interlocking loops to recall the image of a stirrup and the sleek, tailored style associated with the equestrian sport.

Born into Sicilian aristocracy in 1898, Verdura’s founder, Duke Fulco di Verdura, began his extraordinary career in Paris as a designer for Coco Chanel. After eight years with Chanel where he, most notably, created the Maltese Cross cuffs that became his signature, Verdura followed his passion for design to America in 1934.
