Verdura loans to the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute

Verdura is pleased to have loaned the original Verdura “Maltese Cross” Cuffs made for Coco Chanel from the Verdura Museum Collection to the Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute’s Spring 2018 exhibition entitled Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination.

In 1930, Verdura, with Chanel as his muse, shattered the status quo in 20th century jewelry design. Inspired by the Byzantine mosaic of Empress Theodora at the Italian Basilica of San Vitale in Ravenna, Verdura and Chanel set out to break the rules of popular style. It’s a don’t miss exhibition on view through October 8, 2018.
